The Making Rooms has an Epilog Fusion M2 75w CO2 Laser Cutter for high-quality engraving and cutting of wood, acrylics, plastics, stone, and much more.
With a bed size of 1000 x 700 mm the laser cutter can cut sheet materials up to around 20 mm thick including acrylic, wood, fabrics, leather, paper, rubber and fibreglass. It can engrave images on to a huge variety of materials including glass, stone, slate, ceramics and coated metals. The laser cutter is fast and accurate so can cut or engrave extremely intricate designs. Combining this with it’s very easy operation makes this machine the most popular in Fab Labs around the world.
The laser cutter works from Acrobat .pdf files which can be saved from any 2D vector graphics software such as Inkscape, Corel Draw, or Adobe Illustrator. Lines which require cutting (vectors) need to be black and 0.030mm thick, and shapes that need engraving (rastering) must be bigger than 0.25mm wide at the smallest point.
