Printmaking – Old Tech New Tech
Love printmaking or just want to try something new? Laser cut your own design on a printing press block and make your own prints in this workshop collaboration between Blackburn Museum and The Making Rooms.
The session will start at Blackburn Museum where Artist in Residence Julia Swarbrick will show you some great sources of inspiration for printmaking. Next you will come to The Making Rooms and discover how to turn your own drawings/photographs into lino cuts using laser cutting technology. Then back to the the museum for an opportunity to print your lino blocks using the stunning Columbian Press. Take home your reusable block and a set of hand pulled prints
Following this session you will go away with:
- Your reusable block and a set of handpulled prints
- Knowledge of how to turn hand drawings into digital designs
- An understanding of how to operate a laser cutter
- Registration to The Making Rooms user list enabling access on our FREE open days
The session will begin at 9:30 and end around 15:30, please arrive on time ( or earlier 😀 ) at Blackburn Museum. Registering on Eventbrite will allow you to attend this workshop.
